Ever since Valtra was introduced (as Valmet) in 1951 from the Finland Government's State Metal Works operation (which primarily produced war materials) its development into today's global brand has been exciting and groundbreaking. Rapid growth in Finland and entry into other markets was quickly followed by setting up production in Brazil (in 1960) to establish the company as a World power in the tractor industry. In 1979 an agreement was made with Volvo BM (a company with a history dating back to 1832) to create Volvo BM Valmet. Since then a number of name changes has culminted in the purchase of Valtra by the AGCO Corporation in 2004, where it relocated to its European Headquarters in Coventry. Today Valtra is the fourth largest tractor manufacturer in the World (for tractors over 60hp), producing almost 20,000 units per year. Throughout the years the fundamental values of the original Valmet organisation has remained, which has resulted in quality, custom-built tractors for customers across the World.
